I have always wanted long flowing illustrious hair.
It was beautiful. It would make me beautiful. But would it really?
Standing in the hair aisle at Walgreens, scanning the prices of relaxers a product caught my eye. "NO MORE RELAXER", in big bold letters. I picked it up and immediately noticed the array of items for natural hair. Creams to help with curls, to moisture naps, to get you back to that natural "you". So, I made the decision to give it a go.
I don't know if it had to do with my boyfriend loving natural hair, me not wanting to have the scabs from relaxer burns or if I just really was ready for a change.
So, here I go. Ready to embark on another journey. A little black girl on the journey to finding her "roots".
I have about an inch of new growth already and I'm dreading this Brillo pad feel, but I'm determined to succeed. I learned about co-washing. I wish I'd known this because I would have spent the 10 dollars on a good conditioner rather than 5 bucks a piece for a shampoo and conditioner. Had I done a little more research I would have known.
Oh, I must add that I decided to transition because I hate the shape of my head and I don't think chopping it off will look good on me so I'm going to see what happens.
